6th English/Language Arts

Welcome to Bear Branch Sixth Grade. (The best campus in the district!) My name is Sonia Wolfrom and I am excited to be a part of the Bear Branch Sixth Grade educational team. This is my third year in Magnolia ISD but I this will be my 28th year as an educator. This past year, I served teachers and students in Magnolia ISD at the Bear Branch Sixth Grade Campus as the LPAC Coordinator/ELL Lead Teacher and language arts teacher.
Previously, I worked as an accountability specialist, testing coordinator, GT specialist and English/language arts/social studies teacher.  I taught fifth and sixth graders for 13 years, worked with pre-kindergarten to fifth graders for one year and adults for 13 years. Before my second career in teaching, I was a reporter for NBC in Austin, Texas, a news anchor for KGTN in Georgetown, Texas and a staff writer for the magazine, Metropolitan Beaumont.  My passion for reading, writing and publishing has allowed me to publish more than 100 times.
My alma mater is The University of Texas at Austin. In 1986, I earned a Bachelor of Journalism degree from the College of Communication. During the fall, you will often find me watching Texas Longhorn football. Hook 'Em Horns!  Being a Dallas girl, I am an avid Cowboy fan but I also support the Houston Texans (Go J.J. Watt!). I'm even learning about soccer.
In 2006, I earned a Master's in Education from Nova Southeastern in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida with a focus in Teaching and Learning: Curriculum and Instruction. In 2009, I became a certified Texas Principal. I love creating innovative and interesting lessons that engage children in brain-based learning. Technology is a hobby and sharing lessons integrating websites is routine in my classes.  I enjoy practicing my photography skills so, watch for your child's photograph on our class website.
I am blessed with two children, (26 and 21) and I enjoy watching them succeed.  My children are my greatest joy and make me smile on a daily basis. I look forward to a great year with each of you, learning about your families, cultures, hobbies, passions and watching you all become the best you can be!

Sincerely,
Ms. Wolfrom
